Sub-head 40.-Chatham Road Extension, $65,500. Provides for the completion of
the through bye pass road situate to the North of Hung Hom. 41.-Improving existing main Roads for Motor Traffic, $50,000. Necessary for strengthening main roads to meet the requirements of heavy and fast traffic.

Miscellaneous.
42.-Exhumation of Chinese Cemeteries, $6,000. Required for general exhumation in the areas which come under development during the
year.
43-Chinese Cemeteries--Laying out new arens, $5,000. To provide for
new burial areas in existing cemeteries.
44-Refuse Dump at Sung Wong Toi, $10,500. This is to provide facilities on the Eastern side of Kowloon Peninsula similar to those which have proved successful at Cheung Sha Wan in respect of the disposal of refuse by the Sanitary Department.
45.-Rewiring of Government Buildings, $9,000. This vote is required to replace defective and dangerous electrical wiring in certain Government Buildings.
46.-Rewiring Yaumati Government School, $1,200. To replace dangerous
electrical wiring in this building.
47 Resumption of Ma Tau Wei Village, $10,000. This resumption is necessary owing to the development of the surrounding area under the Town Planning Scheme. The village is now approximately 10 feet below development level,
48.--Back Lane Service Pine, $9,000 Provides for water service pipes in
newly developed properties.
49 --Surfacing Hawkers Area at Hung Hom. $2,000. The area is in Gillies Avenue. The present ground surface is badly broken and impossible to keep in a sanitary condition.
Water Works.
50. -Distributing Mains, $15,000. To provide for water mains to newly
developed areas.
51.—New Service Reservoir, Yaumati Hill, $30,000. Necessary to meet the
growing demand for increased water supply on Kowloon Point.
52 ---Distributing circuit for New Reservoir, $30,000. In connection with
the new Service Reservoir. Yaumati 150

53-Mong Kok Tsui Ferry Pier, $1,000, Work completed. The vote
provides for retention money.
Public Health & Buildings Ordinance.
54.-Compensation and Resumption. $15.000. For expenditure in the acquisition of buildings and land necessitated by Town Planning Improvement.

Sub-head 55.-Married Quarters, Lai Chi Kok Prison, $12,000. The work on this contract is completed and this vote is to meet the release of retention money.

56.-New Female Prison, Lai Chi Kok, $71,000. Required to complete and
meet release of retention money.
General Works.
57 Roads, $50,000. To meet expenditure for road surfacing, kerbing and channelling roads made necessary by new development and constructing footpaths thereto.
58.-Drainage (a) Training Nullahs, $50,000, makes provision for stream
course training in Cheung Sha Wan.
(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Work, $124,000. Required for Sewers and stormwater Drains in areas under develop-
ment.
59.—Miscellaneous, $3,000. The vote provides funds for various small
works and contingencies which arise during the year.
60.-Water Works, $1,000. To provide minor extension to subsidiary water mains in areas under development and miscellaneous minor works.
61-Port Works, $500. Expenditure necessary in connection with pre- liminary investigations for proposed harbour works, foreshore dumping
etc.
Communications.
62. Approach Road to New Kowloon Urning Cemetery, $1,800. The new cemetery is situated on the foothills to the East of Kai Tack Reclamation and replaces the old Tai Shek Ku Urning Ground.
Miscellaneous,
63.-Filling in areas N.W of Nan Chang Street and West of Tai Po Road, $15,000. To provide access to developed building land and to improve the drainage and sanitary conditions of this district which is being raised to Town Planning levels.
64-Refuse Dump at Cheung Sha Wan. $8,500. To continue facilities for
the disposal of refuse collected by the Sanitary Department.
The area
65.-Surfacing area adjoining Shamshuipo Market, $2,200.
requires surfacing in order to maintain it in a sanitary condition.
66.-Chinese Cemeteries-Laying out new areas, $3,000. To provide new
